Bud Bongao "The Sacred Mountain"

People from Tawi-tawi called it ďthe sacred mountain of Tawi-tawiĒ. It is where they climb to meditate, to offer prayers, worship or ask for Allahís guidance and blessings. The mountainís height is about 314 meters above sea level. It is the highest mountain in the island of Bongao and of the entire province of Tawi-tawi.

One of the highlights of this place is to experience the mountaineering site. It is safer to climb the mountain if you hire a local guide. As most have gone through the area, the climbing is relatively easy with some constant ascend to get to the peak. It usually takes 1-2 hours to reach the peak depending on your pace. Along the way, you can see monkeys playing and hanging around the trail. Itís a good thing if you have bananas with you so that you can feed on them. More so, there are plastics being tied on the trees, donít think itís a garbage. It was intentionally left there by local Muslims and Christians for the belief that doing so theyíre prayers will be answered. Furthermore, there are tombs you will encounter in which you can rest in between.

Itís a tiring, exhausting yet fulfilling experience if you reach the peak of the Bud Bongao. The views are really amazing. It washes off your draining climb. The strong breeze of wind makes you lay and rest for quite some time. Itís a relief once and for all.
