Sikwate in Southern part of the Philippines most especially in Cebu, is known as hot chocolate drink, the closest you’ll get to drinking pure raw chocolate.
These home-style dark chocolate tablets are processed from 100% cacao beans that are dried, roasted and milled. The tableya are boiled with water in a special container and then frothed using batirol (a wooden instrument that is rolled between hands to release the cocoa butter). In order to get its sweet, smooth hot chocolate taste, add enough sugar and milk with it.
It is a perfect combination with the delicious Puto Maya. Many Filipinos enjoys eating this alongside with their families. There's nothing more exciting than smelling the aroma from Sikwate and Puto Maya.
